The Black Lives Matter movement has taken the world by storm in this day and age and we as people of color are making the change we want to see happen one step at a time. The difference to me about this movement is that now we are holding racist people and establishments accountable instead of remaining silent like we have for decades now. This movement calls out our white allies as well to stand out and show support for LGBTQ+ rights that we are still fighting for. If you don't know celebrity designer Jason C. Peters(seen above) by now then you should, and if you don't know about the BLM movement then you most definitely should and will soon enough.(photo by Mikido)

Jason C. Peters a designer/model created his gender neutral fashion and accessory line self titled Jason Christopher. J.C.P initially began as an intern for the amazing and talented Betsy Johnson and since then his collection of couture accessories has gained attention worldwide standing out in the crowd. Jason briefly spent time on Tyra Banks' "Stylista" reality show and recently meeting Vogues Anna Wintour, Jason is one of the most sought after names in the business featured in covers, tearsheets and articles for magazines such as ELLE, People, Cosmopolitan, Star, US Weekly, Genre, OK!, Teen People, and many more, the brand is shaking grounds throughout the fashion industry.

In true leadership style and remaining ahead of the curve in innovation; Jason Peters found a way to combine his skills and notoriety in the fashion world as his platform to showcase his passions for this cause as member of the black community. His most recent endeavor was multiple fashion shows combined with BLM rally's. In doing so J.C.P is the first designer in history of any civil rights or black lives matter movement to organize a rally protest vigil march fashion and art event ever! In a riveting and innovative fashion presentation, Jason Peters used his voice and talents to start creating change in his own backyard NYC. The streets of NYC created a unique space and opportunity for these presentations to make a big impact and The presentation that Jason organized in Washington square park did just that! Models posed in the Washington sq. arches in runway formation, frozen with different messages on display as garments saying things like "I cant breathe" in reference to police brutality & the killing of George Floyd. Other messages that were created by Jason as statement pieces said things like "stop killing us' & "BLM" with a beautiful artistic background serving as living billboards to the cause Models also threw up fists in solidarity along side Jason himself as he chanted slogans in a peaceful march. The finishing touches on the models were the icing on the cake, tying the whole thing together. One model wore multiple Afro combs in his hair to showcase black culture which caught my attention.(Photos by Jan Marie Rico)

To end the event Jason curated a march to trump towers where he held a vigil/tribute and made history at the same time. The presentations generated a lot of attention to Jason peters new designs as well as the BLM cause and has been a total success in both ways. I look forward to more artists and innovative entrepreneurs taking notes from Jason on this project and more will come soon!
