Neptune Inc. presented to the world its very first social media campaign, the THRIVING THRIFTER ! With that it took off to become what it became, birthing from my brain drawing attention to social problems like over use of new materials and personal shopping habits. As a model, stylist, journalist and activist so to speak these things are very important to me. The #thrivingthrifter challenge took to Instagram, Facebook, & snapchat partially, hosting many of the looks I've done in this category. I couldn't have been happier with everyone's response and contributions.
This social media challenge offered friends and associates around the world & locally to participate and have a little fun. The idea was to showcase outfits created by the person, using #reused , #recycled or #thrifted garments. A lot of people I know and people I don't know around the world thrift and it seems to me I hear all too often someone say they acquired some of their favorite pieces while thrifting. To that point, I as well as many others are also dipping into design and reusing materials in a not so conventional way & some are pro's. My first take at this was creating the #denimrenmix on my styling page @ neptune styles on insta or @ modelboymcmxc, you can see the pieces modeled by me and other models & incorporated into the thrivingthrifter shoot! The winner received these professional images shot locally by photographer and MUA Alex barish showing off their navy blue recreated thrift find. On top of that received a mug from my podcast @ tea wit Taylor on Fb , a garment by me and a pair of designer shades. Our winner and friend of mine in providence RI is a gender fluid, queer person to say the least and a friend, get to know them @ Anica Green on socials.

This photoshoot and campaign were of course quite the challenge to maintain, promote and create but I'm so glad that this has been unleashed on the masses. Hopefully in addition to showing people how thrifting can also be fabulous and glamorous this challenge draws attention to social issues and eco conscious trends in fashion. All the participants in the photoshoot also have unique stories behind their garments for this challenge like the two featured in my denimremix creations. Calypso Pheonix Brown a local drag performer, artist & activist posed in a ziptie dress created by them looking effortlessly beautiful and local model and shoe expert Chris leigh wore an imported blazer from china with reused yarn and repainted to be attached to the front and back of the blazer with a thrifted scarf. Creator of podcast Coffee with Dee and friend Dion sage modeled a black pleather cheetah blazer while designer, business owner, and drag performer Jonathan smith posed in a black linen short overall look with blue accents and linen blue top to match. Most impressively the suede and leather coat reused and thrifted in Europe that Jonathan wore caught my eye.

I couldn't have ever hoped for more and i hope you all enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed bringing them to you! make sure you follow me on socials to stay up tp date on promos and challenges , a new one is already in the works.
